Our guesthouse is full of interesting antiques and art work, and we pride ourselves on giving guests high quality, personal service. We are no more than a 5 minute stroll through the lovely museum gardens or along the river into the historic centre of this wonderful city. We all strive to make sure that guests who come to 23 St Mary's are happy, comfortable and well looked after. Using our extensive and detailed knowledge of this wonderful city, we want you to get the most out of your precious time here by sharing our best insider tips with you, booking you in at the tastiest restaurants and tailoring your stay to your wishes. After a good night's sleep in a quiet and comfortable room, we invite you to fill up with our extensive breakfast menu featuring local, high quality produce and head out on foot to explore the historic delights of York which are literally just around the corner. You can come back in the afternoon to read and relax in our cosy lounge before heading out to sample York's great nightlife and here again we love to share our favourite haunts with you.
We are a friendly, family-run business. We Are from Yorkshire and love the city of York and the lovely countryside and monuments of Yorkshire. We are keen to help our guests experience the best of what this city and area has to offer - whether this be in the high quality ingredients in our breakfast or the attention to detail in guests' rooms.
The immediate neighbourhood is full of architectural and historic gems. Everywhere is accessible on foot. Within 10 minutes you can be at York Minster, the National Ceramics Gallery, the National Railway Museum, the York Theatre Royal and numerous independent shops and art galleries. We are just off Bootham, a beautiful avenue which is famous for its interesting galleries and shops. The city walls are just around the corner and you can enjoy wonderful views from many of the rooms here. 23 St Mary's is located on a quiet street of historic townhouses and we are fortunate to have no passing traffic so although you are right in the middle of town, you can hardly hear any noise.
